What's new on the IIDA regional airlines web page? -------------------------------------------------- 01/02/2001 ---------- ** New routes added for Atlantic Coast Airlines. Routes added were: Washington DC - Mobile AL Chicago - Mobile AL Chicago - Tulsa OK 11/20/2000 ---------- ** New routes added and out-of-date routes eliminated for Air Wisconsin. Routes added were: Denver-Amarillo, Chicago-Oklahoma City, Chicago-Bristol(TN). Chicago-Quincy, along the Chicago-Oklahoma City route. Denver-Madison, along the Denver-Milwaukee route. Chicago-Madison, along the Chicago-Fargo route. Omaha is now found along the Denver-Milwaukee route. IIFA 3-12 hour icing forecasts now available to Air Wisconsin. 04/20/2000 ---------- ** New routes added for Air Wisconsin. Denver to Bismarck ND (BIS) and Chicago to Kalamazoo (AZO - added a couple of months ago). 01/11/2000 ---------- ** New routes added for Air Wisconsin. CWA (Mosinee/Central) to Chicago and Kalamazoo to Chicago are now available. Chicago to Peoria has been added as part of the Chicago to Springfield MO route (just click between Chicago and Peoria to get it). Green Bay to Chicago is essentially the same as the Appleton to Chicago to Lexintgton route, so access it by clicking on Appleton (ATW). 01/02/2000 ---------- ** Upgrades to IIDA were installed along with the changes for Y2K compatibility. The upgraded IIDA includes better cloud definitions for the icing, SLD, and visible moisture fields. Also, icing pilot reports are now used as an interest field. Positive icing PIREPs are a valuable tool for identifying where icing currently exists and is likely to persist. In locations where IIDA has identified cloud and at least *SOME* icing potential, a positive PIREP will be used to boost the icing potential. PIREPs have no effect on the SLD potential or visible moisture fields. 01/02/2000 ---------- ** IIDA is back up as of 15Z today, and we think that everything is back in order. Thanks for your patience! 01/01/2000 - 2300 UTC (4pm Mountain time) --------------------- ** IIDA is down for the time being, thanks to some Y2000 issues with our satellite data ingest that we were unaware of. They are being worked on, and hopefully we'll be back soon. 12/29/99 -------- ** Be aware the there may be some down time around January 1, 2000. Remember, IIDA is an experimental product, so these things are to be expected. The PIREPs which are plotted on top of the icing product, and are given in the PIREP plots are VERY LIKELY to be absent for several days. We will do our best to keep IIDA running and to get everything back to normal ASAP. Thanks for your patience. 11/23/99 -------- * New routes and web interface for COMAIR at the following address: http://www.rap.ucar.edu/iida/comair.html 11/05/99 -------- * New routes and web interface for SkyWest. 10/18/99 -------- * New color tables for icing and SLD potentials. THese new color tables help to highlight locations of high icing/SLD potential, while "damping out" locations of low potential. The color table also provides smoother transitions from low potentials to higher potentials, and helps PIREPs to stand out better. 3/18/99 ------- * New cross-sections added for Air Wisconsin: Denver-Fargo, Denver-Jackson (MS), Denver_Omaha, Billings-Denver To get Denver_Omaha, the user must click on the green dot located at Omaha on the "Choose a cross-section" maps. 2/22/99 ------- * New cross-section between Denver and Memphis added for Air Wisconsin. 1/21/99 ------- * New web interface now available with larger maps for choosing flight route cross-sections. All links to other selectable items that were once available via text links on original pages are now embedded into the map or are found just below it. 1/4/99 ------ * FAA on-line assessment form can be accessed from all IIDA pages. 12/30/98 -------- * Added a PIREP plot for the Great Plains region (covers Denver to Milwaukee, from west to east, and Springfield (MO) to Fargo, from south to north). 12/18/98 -------- * Changed surface observations plot to white backround and to reflect new METAR codes. * Rotated station IDs on vertical cross sections to make them easier to read. * Added horizontal cross-sections at 24, 27, and 30000 feet * Added vertical cross-section along new ACA route, Chicago to Sioux Falls,SD * Lightened state outlines (to grey) on most maps to make PIREPs (black) stand out better * Now all E-W vertical cross sections have W on left hand side of plot, and E on right hand side of plot (e.g. DEN-MKE was reversed) * Local NWS forecasts and TAFs available for each destination via links to ADDS and NWS pages. They are available in the "additional data" section at the bottom of the current web page.
