The CVIS application will soon (approximately October of 2002) migrate to Java® Web Start. The current applet format will still be available but will not be supported. Therefore any updates to functionality will not be made to the applet, and if future browser versions become available that do not work correctly with the current applet there will not be any updates to correct this.

Java Web Start is a free tool from Sun Microsystems which allows you to download Java applications from the web and run them directly on your desktop. It lets you launch applications from a web page while avoiding most of the problems associated with running Java Applets through a web browser. Java Web Start checks your Java Runtime Environment for the right version, caches the application locally for faster startups in the future, and even provides the ability to create desktop shortcuts.
