National Convective Weather Forecast (NCWF)

Hardware

This document describes the hardware available to the NCWF projects and how that hardware is currently used.

sky is currently out of commission, so blow is temporarily taking it's place in the NCWF-6 system. This machine runs the following portions of the NCWF-6 system:

  • extrapolation

This machine has the following data disks:

moonbow RCWF - Lincoln AWDL Debian woody Data transfer through firewalls. This is the host at RAP used for transferring files from Lincoln to RAP. This machine is shared between the NCWF and ANC portions of RCWF and is ultimately owned by the ANC project.
ncwf-1 NCWF-6 ??? Debian sarge This machine runs the following portions of the NCWF-6 system:
  • stability
  • leading edge
  • 30-minute forecast
  • 180-minute forecast

This is a 4-CPU, 2.5 GHz machine.

This machine has the following data disks:

This is a 2-CPU, 440 MHz machine.

This is a 2-CPU, 3.5 GHz machine, huperthreaded.

ncwf-5 NCWF-6 RAL Computer Room Debian sarge Ths machine runs the following portions of the NCWF-6 system:
  • growth
  • trending
  • 60-minute forecast
  • 90-minute forecast

  • 360-minute forecast

This is a 2-CPU, 3.5 GHz machine, hyperthreaded.

This machine has the following data disks:

rcwfsat RCWF - RAP AWDL Debian sarge Satellite data ingest and quality control (parallax correction, etc.). This host pushes the satellite data needed by the AutoNowcast portion of RCWF to the appropriate ANC host.

This is a 4-CPU, 2.4 GHz machine.

thorn-ls2 RCWF - Lincoln Lincoln Debian woody This machine runs the extrapolation portion of the RCWF system in Lincoln.

This is the host used for building the executables used in the Lincoln portion of the RCWF system.

zenith RCWF - Lincoln Lincoln Debian woody Data transfer through firewalls. This is the host at Lincoln used for transferring files from RAP to Lincoln. This machine is shared between the NCWF and ANC portions of RCWF and is ultimately owned by the ANC project.
