AUTO-NOWCASTER
(e.g. automated thunderstorm forecasting algorithm)
The auto-nowcast algorithm ingests products from the:
The data is stored in a two-dimensional Spatial Occupancy Array (SOA), currently 85 km x 95 km with a 1 km grid spacing. Forecasts are generated by:
- Applying automated forecast rules sequentially to the data stored in the SOA, on a grid point by grid point basis.
- Activating all grid points in which any of the forecast rules are true.
- Outlining contiguous areas that are activated.
- Exporting the outline as the automatically generated forecast product.
