Dugway Proving Ground
Dugway Proving Ground is located in the Great Salt Lake Desert, approximately 85 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah. Dugway PG is a major range and testing facility, and the primary chemical and biological defense testing center under the Reliance Program. Dugway's 798,855 acres are surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges. The terrain varies from level salt flats to scattered sand dunes and rugged mountains. The Meteorology Group at Dugway PG is the lead at Smoke with regard to weather, atmospheric, and sensor effects. Meteorologists at DPG analyze the natural atmospheric conditions as well as man-made aerosols/agents associated with the synthetic environment and the physical effects of sensors associated with the synthetic environment.
