Extremes

Our group is involved with two projects concerned with extreme values, both of which are funded through the Weather and Climate Impacts Assessment Science Project:
1. The Extremes Toolkit (extRemes) is software with a tutorial developed to reduce the learning curve for applying extreme value statistical analysis to weather and climate applications. A spatial extension is also in development to help incoprorate spatial information into such analyses. Information on other extreme value analysis software.
2. Investigating the behavior of concurrently high values of convective available potential energy (cape) and 0-6 km wind shear (a large scale indicator of severe weather) under a changing climate.
