Tower instrumentation

 

2 Campbell Sci. CR23X Dataloggers   Temperature / humidity / wind (Temperature/humidity: HMP45C probe) (Wind: RM Young 05103 wind monitor) Mounted at 10, 15, 20, 32, 45, 70 and 85 meters.
Radiation (Kipp & Zonen CNR-1 Net Radiometer) Downwelling & upwelling short-wave and long-wave radiation (0.3 to 50µm). Mounted at 32m and 70m.   Sonic Anemometer (Metek USA-1) Fast-response 3-D wind and temperature measurements. Mounted at 32 and 70m on tower.   Krypton Hygrometer (Campbell Scientific KH2O) Fast-response water vapor density measurements. Mounted at 32 and 70m.
Visibility/Present Wx Sensor (Biral/HSS VPF-730) Horizontal visibility, precipitation identity, rain/snow rate. Sensors mounted at 4, 32 and 70 meters.
Optical Fog Spectrometer (Droplet Measurement Technologies) Cloud droplets size distribution from 2.0µm to 50µm. Mounted at 32m on the 90m tower.
Surface-based instrumentation
Profiling Microwave Radiometer (Radiometrics TP/WVP-3000) Temperature and water vapor profiles up to 10km & cloud liquid water content (one cloud layer).
Laser Ceilometer (Vaisala CT12K) Cloud ceiling up to 12000 ft (3.6 km). Mounted ~10m NNE of tower.   Surface & Soil Data (Campbell Sci. CR10X Datalogger) Surface:  - Barometric pressure at surface (Campbell Sci. CS105). - Temperature & RH at 2m (HMP35C probe). - Vibrating wire precipitation gauge (from GEONOR). Soil (at 3, 8, 15, 30, 45 and 90 cm depths, ~10m N of tower):  - Soil temperature (Campbell CS107 probes) - Volumetric soil water (Decagon Devices Inc. ECH2O EC-20 probes) - Soil matric potential (Campbell CS229 probes)
