MetVault provides access to 4DWX observation and model-output data for use in meteorological analysis and visualization applications. MetVault maintains a catalog of "data sets", similar to a catalog of books in a library.
MetVault’s main features are:

• A repository of observation and model data for all ranges, including lightning, profiler, SAMS, soundings, surface data, MM5 final analyses and forecasts, and WRF final analyses and some forecasts.  Observations will include all available historical data.  Model data will span approximately the last 30 days.  The repository is hosted at NCAR.
• A searchable data catalog for the repository
• A graphical web-based user interface to access the data catalog via map and table displays
• A retrieval service to return data subsets in standard file formats.  Observations are returned in csv (comma separated values) files and model data in NetCDF, GEMPAK, or GRIB files.
