Weather Warning Tool (WWT)

The Weather Warning Tool (WWT) provides a GUI interface for the creation and dissemination of textual and graphical weather warnings.  Users can select the location, time frame, intensity and the type(s) of weather for the warning.  The warning is automatically generated and it can be previewed and updated before it is disseminated.  The user has the option to disseminate the weather warning via email or post it on a range web page.

Weather Warning Tool (WWT) can be used to perform various functions to support range testing such as:

  • Increase the speed and ease of issuing weather warnings.  Warnings are automatically disseminated via email and/or automatically posted to a range web page.  Using WWT to issue weather warnings can also help to increase the consistency of a weather warning's appearance, content, and format.
  • WWT provides color-coded imagery and automatically updated timelines on range maps within the user GUI, and text messages via emails to outline hazardous weather areas.
  • The WWT GUI allows weather personnel to create a warning, extend a warning, cancel a warning, or work on an archived warning.  The WWT allows users to include and create range-specific warning criteria; adjust default locations, issuers, and warning elements; and modify dissemination options.
