About NCAR-RAP Numerical Model data page
New interface
No longer a huge table, the new interface to the model data plots has never been simpler. Just click the checkboxes on the left corresponding to the desired forecast times, then click a text link on the imagemap. There are now separate pages for the RUC, Eta, and MRF plots. Most RUC and Eta choices remain the same but the MRF choices have changed significantly from my older site. You may request more than one forecast time for a series of GIF images or loop all possible times (which will require Javascript).
A few details
The Rapid Update Cycle (RUC) model was created at NOAA-FSL and is run every 3 hours. This model contains the most sophisticated physics of the models run at NCEP and is on par with research numerical models like MM5 and RAMS. The Eta model was recently extended to 60 hours and runs 4 times per day (currently this site only offers the original 00/12z model cycles). The Medium Range Forecast (MRF) model is a component of the Global Spectral Model and forecasts to 10 days (and beyond). I do not offer the overlap times with the Eta model but pick up at 72 hours and continue to 240 hours instead. This site now offers more plot choices for the MRF than previously but a few plots were eliminated.
More to come
I intend to add more content here, sorry for the shortness at this time.
